Xtra Time Web Desk: Former World Cup winning India cricketer Suresh Raina along with popular singer Guru Randhawa was on Monday night arrested from a Mumbai club for violating COVID-19 norms. Both Raina and Randhawa were later released on bail. The incident happened last night when the former CSK cricketer attended a party at Dragonfly club near the Mumbai airport. The charges against the members attending the party were it violated the COVID-19 norms and went beyond permissible time.

The police raided the party and took 34 people into custody including the staffs. The concerned people were booked under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), 34(Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and provisions of NMDA.

A statement was issued by Suresh Raina’s management team says the cricketer was in Mumbai for a shoot which got extended to late hours. He was invited for a quick dinner post the shooting by a friend prior to taking a flight back to Delhi. The cricketer was totally unaware of the local timings and protocols.
