Head Coach Khalid Jamil says his team will give its best against a higher ranked Brazilian side
The Indian coach said that they have to give their best, and the rest is all out of their control
XtraTime Newsdesk: Indian football team head coach Khalid Jamil said his team will keep doing the simple things to compete in this match. In the pre-match presser, Jamil (along with defender Anwar Ali) appeared confident about the clash against Brazil. The head coach asserted that facing a much higher-ranked team (Brazil is No. 5 in the FIFA Rankings) would be a pleasure for his team.
"We are playing against a good team, as you've seen with Brazil. It is our pleasure to play. The players also know that it is an important game. Nothing else—whoever is criticizing, I don't want to say anything. Just go; everyone must support India. That's the key word," said Jamil when asked about people doubting his team being a match for the Brazilians.
The Indian coach said that they have to give their best, and the rest is all out of their control. He also asked people to support India during this match. Jamil said, "For us, it's a very big game. Whoever is watching us playing tomorrow, we just have to give our 100% so that whoever is watching can support us. We just have to give our best so we can do something in Indian football."
He also praised the Brazil team, saying that they are the best team and that his players have to be alert at all times because they have strong players in their XI(and even among the substitutes).
Khalid Jamil also stated that his team has to plan according to the situation and can't rely on one model to get a favourable result from this match.
Defender Anwar Ali also echoed what his coach said in the presser. "I think we have to just go through our coach's plan and follow that. On the field, we have to take responsibilities, every player has to prove themselves and give 100%," said Ali on what he is expecting from tomorrow's match.
India vs Brazil is set to take place on the 3rd of October at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. This is the first-ever meeting between these two teams, and hence, the excitement regarding this match is not surprising. Both Head Coach Jamil and Ali recognised this challenge but said that they have to give their best. Will their best be enough? Only time can tell.
