"Thank you, India. Thank you."

With these heartfelt words, Argentina's Ambassador to India, Mariano Caucino, expressed his gratitude to Indian football fans for their overwhelming support throughout the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking about the incredible backing Argentina received, the ambassador said the country is deeply thankful to the people of India for standing by La Albiceleste during the tournament.

"We are grateful for the unconditional support that India has shown Argentina throughout the World Cup. Once again, thank you, India. Thank you," he said.

Caucino also highlighted that India has Argentina's largest fan base outside South America, emphasizing the extraordinary passion shown by football lovers from every corner of the country.

Football fandom in India has traditionally revolved around Brazil and Argentina. While there are supporters of nations like Germany, Italy and Portugal—largely because of stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo—the overwhelming majority of Indian football fans identify with either Brazil or Argentina.

Whenever Brazil and Argentina face each other, the atmosphere in India is often compared to the fierce rivalry between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, reflecting the same level of passion and emotion.

With Brazil bowing out of the World Cup early this time, much of India's footballing support rallied behind Argentina. The scenes of celebration, packed screenings and widespread enthusiasm across the country once again demonstrated the deep connection Indian fans share with Argentine football.

Witnessing this extraordinary support, Ambassador Mariano Caucino reiterated that nowhere outside South America does Argentina enjoy a fan base as large and as passionate as it does in India.
