Xtra Time Web Desk : The Football Union Of Russia on Tuesday appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, challenging the ban that was earlier imposed upon the Russian male and female women’s football team by FIFA and UEFA.
“The CAS Court Office has initiated two separate arbitration procedures and, in accordance with the Code of Sports-related Arbitration (the arbitration rules governing CAS procedures), will seek the position of the respondent parties with respect to the FUR’s requests to stay the execution of the Challenged Decisions and as to the organization and planning of each arbitration procedure,” said the CAS in it’s statement.
The above situation came following Russia’s decision to attack Ukraine, which was condemned by Poland and Sweden as they refused to play against the Russians in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
