FIFA World Cup 2022: Lionel Messi trains separately ahead of must win game against Mexico

Anilava Chatterjee, Qatar: Argentina’s superstar captain Lionel Messi was seen training separately ahead of his team’s must win game against Mexico at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Saturday night. The reason one would assume Messi training separately was a precautionary measure as he has an ankle injury which he suffered ahead of the tournament.

Messi has a swelling in his left ankle and that is what has been a concern for Albiceleste camp. Despite the concerns Argentina Coach Scaloni has said Messi will be in the starting line for Mexico game. The two-time world champions have to beat Mexico on Saturday to stay alive in the competition. The Latin American giants were shocked by Saudi Arabia in the first match as they lost 1-2. Messi scored the only goal for Argentina from a penalty.

Argentina’s predicted starting line-up will be Emiliano Martinez (GK), N Molina, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Tagliafico, Rodrigo De Paul, Leon Paredes, Mac Allister, Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria
