Kolkata: Mohun Bagan who lost the Fed Cup finals against Bengaluru FC returned to the city of Joy today. Coach Sanjoy Sen along with other club officials however didn’t arrive with the team and left Cuttack by car.
After arriving at the City’s airport none of the players decided to comment except from the Haitian forward Sony Norde.
Sony Norde said that he is extremely upset for the Mohun Bagan fans and has decided to apologize to the fans for not winning the Fed Cup. Mohun Bagan failed to win any of the trophies this season.
“I have been at this club for the past three years and I personally believe that this season we had the best team. We had some of the best footballers. We were the best team that competed in the I-League and the Fed Cup but I am deeply upset that despite being the best team we had to remain trophy less in this season” said Sony.
“I try to give the best every year and this year is also no different. In the last game I also gave my best but luck was not with us” said the Haitian International.
There were certain games, in which the Green and Maroon side lost, but Sony said that if they had to dissect these matches many things would come to light and he doesn’t want to discuss those. He said that the team has always performed whole heartedly.
On being asked that after the game Coach Sanjoy Sen mentioned about the presence of some overrated players in the team, Norde decided not to comment on the following matter.
Norde also said that the previous game against Bengaluru was different when they won 3-1 as both the teams rested their key players.
Bagan forward Balwant Singh said “We gave our best in each game, but luck was not with us”
Mohun Bagan has an AFC Cup game left against Abahani Limited Dhaka on 31st May but since the Kolkata side is not focused on this particular tournament it is highly doubtful that key players will not start on the game.
