Exclusive: What is Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s mission with KKR?

Sabyasachi Bagchi: India’s U19 speed star Kamlesh Nagarkoti got nine wickets in the tournament to help India to lift the U19 World Cup in New Zealand. www.xtratime.in spoke with the Indian young pace sensation about his planning and preparation ahead of his maiden Indian Premier League.

XT: After getting chance to play in the IPL for KKR how you feel?

Kamlesh: I dreamt of playing in IPL It’s great for me that I got the chance to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). There are many experienced players in the squad and I will try to learn from them. I want to know about the plan and how to bowl in different situation.

XT: There are many fast bowlers in the KKR team who not only can bowl fast but also can swing the ball. Eden Gardens wicket helped the fast bowlers for last couple of years. Will it help you?

Kamlesh: Yes definitely it will help but, I will look to stick to my basics and I will talk to my team coaches and try to ball according to the plan. My primary aim is to make place in the first eleven.

XT: How will you bowl against experienced and explosive batsmen?

Kamlesh:  Rahul Dravid sir said me not to look at the batsman just to give my best in the field and follow the basics. I will follow his instructions.

XT: What you want to say about Indian U 19 bowling attack as it proved to be the best in this World Cup?

Kamlesh: The combination was the key as we know how to bowl in the different conditions and everyone knew about the plans. We saw some videos which also helped us to analyse the strength and weakness about that batsman.

XT: What you want to say about the tweet posted by former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly after the first match against Australia?

 Kamlesh: It was a proud moment for me as he commented about my performance.

XT: You played first class cricket for Rajasthan. Did it help you to perform well in the World Cup?

Kamlesh: There are some experienced players in the Rajasthan team who helped me by giving valuable tips and sharing their experiences. It helped me to understand how I should bowl.

XT: It is learnt that your coach played an instrumental role in your career. Would you please narrate the journey?

Kamlesh: I bowled quick from my childhood but my coach helped me a lot to be a pace bowler as he helped me to rectify my bowling action by changing my wrist and head position.

XT: What you want to learn from Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar ?

Kamlesh: I will try to learn as many things as possible as they are my idols. I try to think how they would have bowled and try do that.
