Xtra Time Web Desk: Denmark thrashed Wales 4-0 to book a place in the last eight of EURO 2020 at the Amsterdam Arena on Saturday. Goals from Kasper Dolberg (27’ & 48’), Joakim Maehle (88’) and Martin Brathwaite dashed the hopes of Gareth Bale and his team. Denmark will now meet the winner of Netherlands and Czech Republic in Baku.

Dolberg, who played for Ajax opened the scoring with the curling shot in the 27th minute after Wales started on a positive note with Bale attempting a couple of shots at the goal. Robert Page’s side fell further behind three minutes into the second half as Neco Williams trying to clear a Brathwaite cross played the ball straight to Dolberg to make it 2-0 in 48th minute.

Mathias Jensen picked out an unmarked Maehle to score the third in the 88th minute, before Wilson saw red for a foul on Maehle and Braithwaite made it 4-0, a goal given after a lengthy VAR review.

Wales needed a moment of magic from captain Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey which never came, but in truth they were up against it from the outset.
