EURO 2020: Denmark beat Czech Republic 2-1 to cruise into the last four

Xtra Time Web Desk: First-half goals from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg were enough for Denmark to beat Czech Republic 2-1 at the Baku National Stadium to seal a spot in the last four stages of EURO 2020 on Saturday. Patrick Schick pulled a goal back for the Czech’s but that was not enough. The Danes will play the winner of Ukraine and England in the second semi final at Wembley on Wednesday.

Denmark got the breakthrough as early in the fifth minute when Jens Stryger Larsen’s corner from the right found an unmarked Thomas Delaney who headed it past Tomas Vaclik into the back of the net.

The Danes extended the lead in the 42nd minute when Joakim Maehle played a beautiful cross with the outside of his right foot from the left to find a rushing Kasper Dolberg who fired home the volley from close range.

The Czech’s pulled a goal back in the 49th minute through Patrick Schick when he helped the ball into the net from Vladimir Coufal’s cross from the right. It was his fifth goal of the tournament which was also equal to Cristiano Ronaldo in EURO 2020.

It was the first semi final for Denmark in a European championships since 1992. Kasper Hjulmand’s side would be hoping to come good in the semi finals against hosts England at Wembley stadium on Wednesday.
