Kolkata: Kolkata giants Quess East Bengal FC I have started there season on a High note as they beat Army Red 2-0 in their opening fixture of Durand Cup 2019. The goal scorers were Jaime Santos Colado & Vidyasagar Singh.
In the first half East Bengal created a lot of chances but the luck wasn’t there with them. On the 26th minute of the game Jaime Santos Colado’s the brilliant free kick deflected after hitting the cross bar. The return ball was received by Boitang Haokip but his shot was saved by Army Red’s defender.
In the 30th minute another shot of Haokip rattled the crossbar and the keeper was just standing there as you had nothing to do.
In the 82nd minute of the game East Bengal got a free kick outside the box as the goalkeeper of Army Red pushed substitute Vidyasagar Singh, as a result the referee took no time and showed the marching orders to the goalie. Colado took a stunning free kick to give the host a crucial goal lead in the game. At the very end of the game Vidyasagar made it 2-0 for the Red and Gold Brigade after receiving a ball from Samad Ali Mallick against 10-man Army Red.
