Dong Leaves Practice , Expresses Frustration At Coach Biswajit Bhattacharya

Kolkata – All is not well with East Bengal’s Korean winger Do Hyun Dong ahead of the I-League derby on Saturday. Upset with the club ground , the Korean chose to sit out for most part of the practice session today. Dong has been troubled with the hard surface of  East Bengal ground. It was due to the surface, the officials were forced to shift the practice venue to Sailen Manna stadium few days back. The Korean injured himself again at the practice session yesterday at the club ground .

Coach Biswajit Bhattacharya was playing a practice match amongst his players at the club ground today . He kept Dong along with Ranty in one team . But the Korean footballer started walking  towards the reserve bench immediately  after the first half whistle was blown. He did not even bother to take the permission of  the coach . Later , Biswajit Bhattacharya signalled Dong to stay at the reserve bench, while he carried on with the practice match. The Korean , instead of paying attention to his coach, was busy interacting with Alvito. The entire incident happened in front of the media covering the East Bengal practice session .

Later the East Bengal coach commented ,“ There’s nothing to be concerned about . True , Dong was having a difficulty with the surface here . He did not want to take any risk with his injury , so he was playing safe . I hope he stays fully fit to play in the derby .”

East Bengal coach will be pinning his hopes on the duo of Ranty Martins and Do Hyun Dong for goals in the derby . It was Dong who scored a brace for East Bengal in the Kolkata league derby , helping his side in winning by 4-0  to lift the Kolkata League for a record sixth time .

The incident of  Dong happened in front of the club officials , who do not want to read too much into the incident . “We totally back our coach. He has done whatever he felt was right at that moment . We will not discuss anything related to the internal problem of  the club .” commented club official Debabrata Sarkar.

With no official word on Mendy’s arrival , Dong’s cold war with East Bengal coach is sure to influence the morale of the team . Although East Bengal officials are hopeful about the French international reaching the city by Friday . According to Debabrata Sarkar “ We expect him to arrive on Friday , if everything goes accordingly. We are keeping our fingers crossed on his availability in the derby . His papers have already been submitted at the Indian High Commission .”

East Bengal coach will be feeling the pressure of the derby, with key players injured, it will be a tough match for him. “The coach is always at the firing line . My chair is not guaranteed . Everyone here wants to win the derby.” Biswajit Bhattacharya signals the mood in the camp .
