Internet Desk : Indian captain MS Dhoni who is now in Australia to play 5 ODI’s and 3 T20I’s has been served a non-bailable warrant by Anantapur court in Andhra Pradesh.

A case was filed against him at the Anantpur court  after his image was morphed as a Hindu deity. The World Cup winning Indian skipper was in news in 2013 for appearing in an advertisement on the cover of Business Today as Lord Vishnu holding a number of things. Social activist Jayakumar Hiremath  filed a case alleging Dhoni of hurting Hindu sentiments.

The court has asked MS Dhoni to appear before the court on February 25.A case was registered against him under section 295 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“A celebrity and a cricketer like Dhoni should know the consequences of hurting religious sentiments of people. He should have known the consequences of doing such ads. These celebrities are only signing ads without any responsibility. Their aim is to earn easy money without considering the problems it may create,” the Anantapur court released a statement criticising the cricketer according to a report on the International Business Times.

MS Dhoni has defended himself  earlier on this issue. “I haven’t received any remuneration/goodwill or money for the news article or for usage of my picture on the cover page or anywhere else. Neither have I posed for the picture which was published in the magazine on April 14, 2013.”

India will start their campaign against Western Australia XI in a couple of practice matches against BBL side Perth Scorchers on Friday and Saturday at the WACA Ground in Perth. India will face Australia in the first ODI on Tuesday.
