Deepak Chahar eyeing a comeback in WI tour; Washington Sundar to play for Lancashire

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s all rounder Deepak Chahar has set his sights for a return to action ahead of the tour to West Indies in July. Deepak is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) undergoing his rehab. The all rounder from Rajasthan suffered a hamstring injury during the white ball series against West Indies in Kolkata. He was forced to miss IPL 2022 and the South Africa series besides England tour. But he needs another 4-5 weeks to recover completely.

“I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit,” Chahar told PTI after his rehab session at the NCA.

So, it is expected Chahar will be fit for the tour of the West Indies. India is scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is between July 22 and August 7 in the West Indies.

In another development, Team India off spinner Washington Sundar will play for Lancashire to return to action following his injury. He is also at the NCA, recovering from a hand injury. The BCCI is arranging for his stint in England.
