Davis Cup: Disappointment for India as they lost 3-1 against Italy

Italy’s Andreas Seppi cruised past Prajnesh Gunneswaran to win 6-1, 6-4 and gave Italy a 3-1 victory. After losing the first two singles India came back strongly in the doubles as Indian duo Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan beat Simone Bolelli and Marco Cecchinato by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to keep India alive in the tie.

It’s been a disappointing outing for the Indians. Their gamble to play on grass courts didn’t pay off as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to the Italians. Italy advanced to the Davis Cup final round, while India will have to wait another year to have a shot at making it there.
