Dana Cup bound Durbar Sports Academy footballers fly to Denmark tonight

Kolkata: The talented footballers of Durbar Sports Academy are flying off to Denmark tonight from NSCB International Airport to fulfill their dreams. The budding 16 footballers, all sons of sex workers of Sonagachi have been invited to take part in the invitational Dana Cup which starts from July 25-30. It will be the first time that a team comprising of the sons of sex workers will be seen in action competing with the teams from all across the globe.

The players were handed over their kit and jersey by Indian defender Pritam Kotal in the airport in the presence of other support staff. IFA Secretary Utpal Ganguly sponsored their kit and jersey and their jersey was designed by designer Abhishek Dutta.

Pritam Kotal inspired the players and wished them luck for the whole tournament. He said, “Best of luck to all of you. I pray to God that you guys return with your heads high. I will be in touch with you all. Wish them all a happy and safe journey. Play well and make your nation proud.”

Durbar Sports Academy coach Biswajit Majumdar said, “Our preparation has been very good. Whatever preparation is need to be taken to get ready for an International tournament, we did everything. I believe that our boys will do well but they should not be scared of the opponents.”

Captain Supriyo Ghosh said, “It was a great feeling to receive this amount wishes from Pritam Kotal and others. We want to make our state and nation proud and to do that we have to play well and we will give our best to be crowned champions.”
