The IPL auction will return to India after three years, with Goa set to host the upcoming auction in December. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development.

The previous three auctions were held overseas in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi. The 2025 auction took place in Jeddah, while the 2024 auction was hosted in Dubai. The 2026 auction was held in Abu Dhabi. The 2027 IPL auction will now be conducted in Goa.

IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal had earlier revealed that the board was working towards bringing the auction back to India, although finalising a venue had presented certain challenges. He explained that the wedding season often makes it difficult to secure suitable venues in the country.

Dhumal also stated that the upcoming auction would be conducted on a smaller scale, reflecting the board's intention to bring the event back to India.

With Goa now confirmed as the venue, the IPL auction will return to Indian soil for the first time since 2023.

Meanwhile, the BCCI is also reconsidering the Impact Player rule. Following a board meeting, all IPL franchises have been asked to share their views on the rule. The feedback from the teams could play a role in determining the future of the Impact Player provision in the tournament.
