XtraTime Web Desk: They say age is just a number in sports. It was proved once again on Monday as 48 year old Praveen Tambe became the first cricketer from the country to feature in the Caribbean Premier League. Tambe was signed by Trinbago Knight Riders during the CPL draft on Monday.

Tambe, who was rejected in the Indian Premier League, sought permissions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to try his luck in the CPL. In fact he was disqualified from playing in the IPL by the Indian cricket board for his stint in other franchise leagues. The veteran cricketer was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders during the auction held in Kolkata last year.

Tambe, who has played only 2 first-class games, shot to fame during his stint with Rajasthan Royals between 2013 and 2015. He went on to play for the now-defunct Gujarat Lions and also was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad squad. Tambe has not played IPL since 2016.

The 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League will be held behind closed doors from August 18-September 10 in Trinidad & Tobago.
