Internet Desk: It was a dream debut for Enzo Zidane as he made his dad proud by scoring on his Real Madrid debut in Copa del Rey against Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday night.

Zinedine Zidane gave his 21 year old son his first chance to play for the Spanish giants. Enzo did not let his father down as he found the net with a nice right footer from the edge of the box in Real’s 6-1 rout over Leonesa. The Real Madrid coach used most of his second string players ahead of the all important Classico on Saturday against Barcelona. But that did not stop his side advance to the last 16 of the competition with an aggregate of 13-2. Real Madrid won the first leg with a 7-1 margin.

Enzo Zidane had played for Real on pre-season tour, but this was the first time that he was given an opportunity in a competitive match. Coming in as a substitute after the break he scored his first goal for the Spanish giants in the 63rd minute.

Mariano Díaz also made the most of his time with the senior squad by scoring a hat-trick at the Santiago Bernabéu, with one of the goals coming only 22 seconds into the match. James Rodríguez also got his name on the score sheet while Cesar Morgado let in a own goal. Cultural Leonesa’s lone strike came with a powerful long-range shot by Yeray González.

Zidane also used the game to give some playing time to Casemiro and Pepe, who had been nursing injuries. Also among the starters was the 17-year-old Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard.

Before the game, a minute’s silence was held in honour of the victims of Monday’s plane crash involving the Brazilian club Chapecoense.
