Consistent Mayank scores his third hundred in last four Test matches

XtraTime Web Desk: After a Test debut last year Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has only played 8 Test matches so far but the young batsman has going through a dream run and already hit his third hundred in the longest format of the game. The Karnataka batsman’s rich form helped India to take control over the ongoing 1st Test against Bangladesh in Indore, Friday.

Mayank got to his hundred with an easy flick off Ebadat Hossain to collect 2 runs. His innings was laced with 15 boundaries and a solitary six.

Bangladesh had their chances to remove Mayank early, but the India opener made his own luck to add another hundred to his short international career. Mayank could have been caught at slip for 32 but Imrul Kayes dropped a sitter on Day 1. The 28-year-old was also given an LBW out but India took a successful DRS review as India went into Lunch with Mayank still alive at 91.

Returning after Lunch, Mayank batted patiently to get to the 100-run mark after 5 overs into the second session.

His 3rd Test ton in Indore also meant Mayank has now scored 715 runs (while batting on 100) in 12 innings at a 60-plus average with six 50-plus scores. Since Mayank’s Test debut, only Steve Smith (774 runs) has scored more runs than him.

Mayank also became the joint fourth Indian batsman to fewest innings to third Test hundred as an opener.
