Internet Desk: Goan club Churchill Brothers looked all set for a return in I-League following the Delhi High Court’s decision on Monday. The Court has directed the AIFF to consider their decision.

The two times I-League champions were knocked out of the I-League along with two other clubs- Mohammedan Sporting and Rangdajied United as they failed to fulfill the AFC club licensing criteria in September 2014.

“After considering the rich history of the club along with its performances in the I-League, the Court has directed the AIFF to reconsider its decision to take the club back in the league,” said Churchill Brothers CEO Valanka Alemao to xtratime.in

She also added, “The court in its order gave 15 days to settle the issue which was agreed upon by the Federation.”

Confirming the development, All India Football Federation (AIFF) secretary Kushal Das told xtratime.in , “We are yet to get the judgment papers in hand. Once we get the papers, we will discuss the matter with our legal counsel about our future steps.”

The Red Machines is regarded as one of the most successful club in the country. The Goan club pleaded their case before FIFA and also fought a legal battle for the past two years and the club CEO was jubilant over the court decision to be in their favour.

With Churchill Brothers likely to be drafted in, it also signals the presence of a goan club following the pull outs of Salgaocar and Sporting Clube de Goa.

The Goan club meanwhile is plying their trade in the Goa Pro League.
