Xtra Time Web Desk: A hat-trick from Marcus Rashford inspired Manchester United to a thumping 5-0 victory over RC Leipzig in Champions League at Old Trafford on Wednesday.  Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial were the other two scorers for United.

Greenwood broke the deadlock in the 21st minute to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side the lead. Rashford, coming in as a substitute got into the act soon. The England striker, whose name is already in the headlines off the pitch for his continued fight against the Government over free school meals for school children, scored twice (74, 78) in four minutes before Anthony Martial’s first goal of the season (87) added a fourth from the penalty spot after the Frenchman was brought down by Marcel Sabitzer. Rashford (90+2) then rounded off United’s perfect evening, completing his first senior hat-trick as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side made it back-to-back wins in Europe to go top of Group H.

In another Champions League encounter Barcelona shrugged off their El Classico defeat to register a 2-0 win against Juventus at Juventus Stadium. Osumane Dembele and Lionel Messi scored for the Catalans. The Argentine’s fine pass led to Ousmane Dembele’s opener and he scored a late penalty after Merih Demiral had earlier been sent off for the hosts. The Italian giants missed the service of Cristiano Ronaldo as he tested positive for coronavirus. The result puts Barcelona in control of Group G with two wins from two, with Juventus in second spot after Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros drew 2-2.
