Xtra Time Web Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo made his record breaking Champions League appearance (177) a memorable one as his late strike helped Manchester United snatch a dramatic 2-1 win against Villareal at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. It was the first win for the Red Devils in Champions’ League Group F fixtures.

It was the Spanish side who took the lead with Arnaut Danjuma setting up Paco Alcacer for a tap-in the 53rd minute to silence the 73000 strong home crowd. Ronaldo nodded Fred’s corner down for Jesse Lingard who did well to pass it back to Ronaldo. The Portugese talisman made no mistake slotting it past Rulli at the near post.

The win United their first points of the Champions League campaign, sending them third behind Young Boys and early group F leaders, Atalanta.
