Champions League 2021-22: Real Madrid stunned 1-2 by Sheriff Tiraspol at home
Xtra Time Web Desk: Thirteen-time champions Real Madrid suffered a shock 1-2 defeat against Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol in Champions League on Tuesday night. Sheriff has now two wins out of two matches in Group D in their maiden season in Champions League.
Jasur Jakhshibaev headed the Moldovan side into the lead in the 25th minute. Real Madrid scored the equalizer through a second-half penalty from Karim Benzema, given following a VAR review.
The visitors, though, snatched all three points with just a minute left when Thill drove the ball into the top corner from 20 yards to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in stunned silence.
