Xtra Time Web Desk: Premier League champions Manchester City were stunned by Chelsea 0-1 in the final of Champions League at the Eastadio do Dragao in Porto on Saturday night. Kai Havertz scored the winning goal of the match in the 42nd minute. It was the second European title for the Blues and also the first silverware under coach Thomas Tuchel.

Pep Guardiola’s side was far from their best despite an extremely attacking line-up. Chelsea was dealt a blow as Thiago Silva had to limp out of the ground to an injury in the 39th minute. But that did not dampen their spirits as they took the lead three minutes later. German Kai Havertz picked a superb pass from Mason Mount to find only Ederson ahead of him. He kept his calm made no mistake to put the ball at the back of the net.

A goal down, Man City showed a lot more intent in the second half but an injury to Kevin De Bruyne did not help their cause. Pep Guardiola tried Sergio Aguero towards the end trying to get the equalizer but the West London side kept defending well.

The victory also stamped the dominance of Thomas Tuchel’s side over City this season as it was the third straight win. The victory for Chelsea also banished memories of their FA Cup final disappointment earlier this month.
