CFL 2019: Quess East Bengal starts its campaign with a loss against George Telegraph

Kolkata: Kolkata giants Quess East Bengal FC lost their first match of the Calcutta Football League as George Telegraph beat them 1-0 thanks to a last minute goal from their forward Justice Morgan. On the added minutes (94th minute) of the game Morgan destroyed the East Bengal defence and scored the goal for his side.

Both the teams played cautiously in the first half. On the 4th minute of the game East Bengal’s young forward Vidyasagar Singh hit the side net. After that on the 32nd minute of the game Red & Gold goalie Rakshit Dagar made a blunder. East bengal’s new Spanish defender Marti Cerspy gave a pass to Dagar to clear the ball but Dagar got slipped while hitting the ball. George  forward Jowel Sunday was in front of him but Crespi somehow saved the ship for Red & Gold Brigade.

But East Bengal’s young forward Subhonil missed the easiest chance of the match on the 41st minute. Abhijeet Sarkar gave a short cross to him inside the penalty box but he hit the shot over the bar.

East Bengal Head coach Alejandro Menendez Garcia almost changed the whole squad from the last game. Three foreigners Jaime Santos Colado, Kassim Aidara & Borja Gomez Perez weren’t available for the first game due t IFA’s rule. The only foreigner who played the game was Marti Crespy. It was clear that Alejandro was trying to see the young guns play the game.

In the second half Alejandro made three changes in the team. On the 52nd minute of the he brought Pintu Mahata in place of Abhijit Sarkar and Rohlu Puia in place of Prakash Sarkar. And lastly on the 57th minute he swiped Subhonil with Brendon. In the second half Dagar played quite well.
