CFL 2018: Jobby Justin the star, as East Bengal thrash Pathachakra with a clinical performance

Jobby Justin marks a memorable performance, as Quess East Bengal FC comes back into the winning ways against a solid Pathachakra side in the Calcutta Football League today at the East Bengal Ground. Justin scored a brace and Laldanmawia Ralte scored from the spot to register a 3-0 victory.




Jobby Justin started for the first tim this season in place of Bali Gagandeep and made it count as he scored from a brilliant header in the first quarter of the game to give East Bengal a 1-0 lead. It was a superb cross from the left by Chullova and Jobby slotted it home with a fine header.




In the 40th minute of the game, Jobby’s acrobatic volley was stopped by Pathachakra defender Manotosh Chakladar with his hand. Referee Pranjal Banerjee had no hesitation and pointed to the penalty spot. Danmawia had no problem in making it 2-0 for the Red and Gold brigade.




In the 79th minute, Danmawia created space for Jobby Justin again and and the Kerala-born forward had made no mistake to make it 3-0 for Subhash Bhowmick’s team.

The win puts East Bengal just behind arch rivals Mohun Bagan with 7 points off three games.
