Last year the white and black brigade finished second in the league ahead of Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan and this year with foreigners like Dipanda Dika who was the top scorer of last year’s I-League and Richard, their aim will be to do a lot better in the current season and become the CFL champions after a long period of 36 years. With the goalkeeper’s like veteran Naseem Akhtar, Shankar Roy and a new recruit from Lonestar Kashmir F.C Harpreet Singh Mohammedan Sporting looks a much better side. They are in talks with another goalie Dibyendu Chakraborty too. They have signed former East Bengal and Mohun Bagan coach Biswajit Bhattacharya for this season, which adds a lot more composure to the side. On being asked about his new challenge with the white and yellow brigade he said,” Life is a challenge you know and in our career there are a lot of ups and downs. I am thankful to Mohammedan Sporting club that they have given me the chance to coach this side.” Last time Biswajit was the coach of Kolkata giants East Bengal and under his guidance the Red & Gold brigade clinched the sixth consecutive Calcutta league title in the year 2015 and now Mohammedan have picked some good players for the current season. The Black and White gaffer is pretty confident that his side will do well in the tournament.” The team have started the practice session today and I will try my level best to motivate them to do well in the league and then the rest is on god,” said Bhattacharya. The AIFF have proposed that the I-League clubs could sign 8 foreigners for next season among them two would have to be Asians. Biswajit was pretty embarrassed with this proposal.”This is a very bad decision by the AIFF. The Indian players won’t get much chances to play as their numbers in the league will fall and the Indian currency will go outside and this is not a good advertisement for the Indian football. The officials should think about this and they should follow the old norms,” added Biswajit. https://youtu.be/CIawN3hwwEU
