Kolkata: Despite a lack luster performance from East Bengal, the Kolkata giants managed to continue their winning run when they defeated Customs 2-0 in their second match of the Calcutta League 2017. Both the goals have been scored by star defender Carlyle Mitchell in the second half of the game.

The first half of the game saw Calcutta Custom’s defence foiling all the attacks from the Red and Gold brigade. Defender Samuel Kane and midfielder Joseph Segun played a vital role stopping all the attacks of the East Bengal fire power. Owing to such a strong defence Willis Plaza could not create any opening in the game.

A chance was created in the 27th minute when Brendan made a brilliant pass however Ralte failed to score. Customs created a golden chance in the 40th minute Samuel Kane’s header went wide.

East Bengal’s Mahmoud Al Amna was warned while Brandon was awarded the yellow card for arguing with opponent players.

The goal came in the form of defender Carlyle Mitchell in the 77th minute after a delightful cross from Samad Ali Mallick.

The second goal came in the 92nd minute when Mitchell headed his side home after a free kick was taken by Cavin Lobo.

Although the Kolkata giants won the game, a poor and a lack luster performance was shown by the club which made it evident that the strikers like Willis Plaza or Suher VP have failed to score today. Owing to an in-experienced attack lineup of Customs, it can be said that the side lost the game.
