Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a great news for Kolkata Knight Riders fans, Andre Russell is fit and will be available to play in Sunday’s IPL 2023 fixture against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede stadium. The Jamaican walked off the Eden Gardens due to cramps and dehydration during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday.

The Knight Riders media team did confirm that Russell is fit for Sunday’s match against MI. KKR captain Nitish Rana too dismissed any injury concern to Russell, who came out to bat and got out for 3.

According to Rana, Russell did not have any injury. He developed cramps. It was 42 degrees in the afternoon and he had dehydration.

Russell bowled a great spell as he took 3 wickets for 22 runs. But he had to walk off the ground after bowling just one ball in the third over.

He was seen lying on the ground after taking the wicket of Abhishek Sharma off the first delivery of his third over. KKR wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz immediately rushed to give him some treatment but he could not complete his over after developing cramps.

While turning back to go to his run-up for the final ball of the over, Russell again was seen holding his knees in agony. He did not look comfortable as captain Nitish Rana came in and had a word with him just to enquire about his status. Soon after the conversation, he walked off the ground in the eighth over of the game.

Russell has been dealing with fitness issues for the past few IPL seasons, and it goes to be seen if he can complete the full season injury free.
