Internet Desk: West Indies were dealt a body blow as their key leg spinner Samuel Badree has suffered an injury while fielding in the match against India on Thursday. Darren Sammy and his men dashed India’s hopes of playing the final at Eden Gardens on April 03. The West Indies will meet former champions England in a final showdown.
Sunil Narine who is right now in Kolkata has been asked as a cover for Badree. Narine was in the cup squad announced by WICB but the mystery spinner opted out of the World T20 citing a lack of confidence.
Narine , who reached the city yesterday was seen practicing with Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Carl Crow along with video analyst at Jadavpur campus in Salt Lake. Both Crow and the video analyst was seen capturing Narine’s bowling . The Trinidadian born spinner was in the city to join the Kolkata Knight Riders camp which will start from April 05.
Narine will be a key bowler for Knight Riders in the forthcoming IPL. He will be supported in the spin department by leg spinner Piyush Chawla and Bangladesh all rounder Shakib al Hasan.
Meanwhile Badree’s unavailability will come as a huge blow if at all he is injured. The leg spinner currently ranked the No 1 bowler in the world rankings will definitely prove to be a lethal weapon in the armory of Darren Sammy.
Badree will be excited to bowl on the Eden strip against England on Sunday. And Sunil Narine, well he will be in the Eden Gardens not as player but as someone cheering his team mates from the club house.
