Internet Desk: In the latest FIFA ranking Brazil are edging ever closer to Argentina as the top-ranked side in the world and now sit in the No. 2 slot after displacing Germany.

Brazil are closing in on their long-time rivals, though, and after November victories over the Argentinians and Peru, they have now won six games on the bounce.

Despite a recent 8-1 thrashing of Estonia, former No. 1 side Belgium have dropped from fourth to fifth, with Chile moving up two spots to take the Red Devils' place.

Meanwhile, England have dropped a further place to 13th—one spot behind Wales—with Switzerland making a three-position jump up into 11th.

Argentina have endured mixed form of late, and their erratic results continued in November as they lost one FIFA World Cup qualifier 3-0 to Brazil before prevailing by the same result in the next against Colombia.

However, despite their recent inconsistency and the fact they currently lie fifth in the CONCACAF qualifying group for Russia 2018, they remain FIFA's top-ranked side in the world.

Chile are also on a decent run having beaten Uruguay 3-1 and drawn with Colombia 0-0 in the last month, hence their jump up to fourth.

The reigning World Cup winners dispatched San Marino 8-0 in their sole qualifier before drawing 0-0 in a friendly with Italy.

England's 2-2 friendly draw with 10th-ranked Spain was one of their more positive results of recent times despite conceding two late goals. But, though it followed a decent 3-0 qualifying win over Scotland, the Three Lions still dropped a spot in the rankings.

Wales are suffering something of a hangover after their heroics in reaching the last four at Euro 2016 and have now drawn three matches in a row following a 1-1 home result against Serbia earlier this month.

Euro 2016's winners Portugal remain the world's eighth-ranked side surrounded by the same sides as they were in October's standings.
