Big boost for Australia as Usman Khawaja likely to return against India

XtraTime Web Desk: A very good news for Australia cricket team as their opener Usman Khawaja expected to recover before the first test against India in Brisbane on December 6.

The 31 year old had a surgery for a torn meniscus he suffered during the two-Test series against Pakistan in UAE last month.

Aussie players like Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft serving bans for their involvement in the ball- tampering scandal in Southa Africa. Khawaja’s return can be a boost for Tim Paine and his men.

Khawaja scored 144 runs to salvage a draw against Pakistan in the first test before getting injured.

“It’s going pretty well so far, just over two weeks, ran at 100 per cent yesterday on the treadmill, hopefully run outside tomorrow, so progressing well so far,” Khawaja was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.

Media reports suggest Khawaja will face bowling later this week in the nets.
