Bengal will lock horns with Services for their Vijay Hazare trophy opener at Eden Gardens tomorrow

Along with Bengal in Elite Group E there are Services, Jammu & Kashmir, Saurashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh and all the matches will be played in Kolkata.

Bengal skipper Anustup Majumder who is also in good form with the willow said: “There won’t be any Ranji trophy this year, that’s why this tournament is our main target. We are well prepared for Vijay Hazare. We have prepared well, there are good teams in the tournament and our primary target is to qualify for the next stage. We have played Syed Mushtaq Ali before this, not played well in some sessions and that’s why we couldn’t qualify for the knockouts. We have to work on the areas we were lacking and everyone has worked hard to prepare well, in good shape.”

In the batting department apart from Anustup Bengal have Sreevats Goswami, Vivek Singh and Sudip Chatterjee while having youngsters like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Kaif Ahamed, Ritwik Roy Chowdhury will give the side a good balance.

“There’s good balance in the team with experienced and young players. We have many young talents, if they can win us two or three matches we will qualify for the next stage. All are good teams and we are prepared. Every match is important for us and we want to win those,” added the Bengal skipper.

Among all-rounders Shahbaz Ahamed, Arnab Nadi, Writtick Chatterjee are expected to play key roles with both bat and spin for Bengal while Ishan Porel led pace attack crafted with Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep can be deadly as seen before.
