Ben Stokes set to be named as England’s Test captain; Gary Kirsten frontrunner to be Head Coach

Xtra Time Web Desk: England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes is all set to named as the next Test captain of England. The Durham cricketer recently met the newly appointed Managing Director of the ECB, Robert Key. As per reports Stokes has decided to take over the reins from Joe Root. The official announcement is likely to be made by Key at a press conference held at Lords on Thursday.

The ECB will also announce the name of the Head Coach for the test and white ball teams. Former South African opener Gary Kirsten and former Australian opening batsman Simon Katich are the top candidates in contention for the post.

It was also reported in English media that senior pros Stuart Broad and James Anderson, who were left out of the squad for the West Indies series, will be back on board once Stokes takes over the duties. The two will be part of the squad throughout the summer for England’s fixtures.
