BCCI’s new diktat for fast bowlers ahead of World Test Championship Final

Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders’ star bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur was seen taking sprints after the KKR practice session ended at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday. Although Shardul has not featured regularly in Indian test playing XI in recent times, but one would assume he will most likely be part of the Indian test squad for ICC WTC Final against Australia starting at the Oval from June 7.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India also issued a guideline for the India pacers who are part of various IPL franchises. The Indian cricket board has asked the likes of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj. Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur to ‘double their workload’ during the second half of IPL 2023 season. The decision has been taken with the World Test Championship final in mind.

BCCI has asked its contracted bowlers to scale up their workload during the second half of IPL in the build-up to the World Test Championship Final. With only a week’s gap after the IPL 2023 Final, Shami, Siraj, Umesh, Shardul and others are warranted to bowl as many as 33 overs or 200 deliveries every week. The bowlers will be given Dukes’ ball, used in England to work on their skills.
