The move to stage the IPL in the UAE was largely expected. As reported earlier, the BCCI has already had an informal agreement with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) in the UAE.

According to the official release of BCCI, it said The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to complete the remaining matches of VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 season in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year.

Following the Indian cricket board’s request to take some more time before deciding on the staging of T20 World Cup in India, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will also need to delay its decision by a few more days. It was expected that the world cricket body will finally take a call whether to shift the T20 World Cup to UAE in its board meeting on June 01 & 02.
