BCCI FINALISES 9 VENUES FOR UPCOMING T-20 WORLD CUP
Xtratime Web Desk: Board of Control for Cricket in India has finalised 9 venues for the upcoming T-20 world cup that i slated to be held in India after it was postponed in the year 2020 due to the outbreak of corona virus worldwide. International Cricket Council's (ICC) T20 mens' World Cup is scheduled to be held in India in the month of October-November. Primarily nine venues have been finalised by BCCI, they are namely :- 1) Mumbai,2) New Delhi, 3)Chennai,4) Kolkata,5) Bengaluru,6) Hyderabad,7) Dharamsala,8) Ahmedabad, and 9)Lucknow.
As reported by us earlier the final of this mega event will take place at the newly built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad- the world’s largest cricket stadium with a searing capacity in excess of one lakh. Sources from inside confirmed that BCCI had plans to the restrict the number of venues to six, but after a number of state units expressed their desire to host the tournament BCCI approached world cricket governing body ICC regarding the issue and later on it was decided to host it on 9 venues.Incidentally in the 2016 edition of the event India had used seven venues,out of which Mohali and Nagpur have been excluded this time while Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow were added to the list.
In these trying times amid Covid-19 virus scare BCCI would give the ICC a ‘Plan B’ if the situation worsen in India. Details regarding preparation of bio-bubble would be shared with ICC as well. Regarding the visa issues raised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB),an Apex Council member was quoted as saying "The visa issue of Pakistan cricket team has been sorted. However whether the fans can travel across the border to watch matches is still not clear,"
