BCCI chalks out plan to prepare for World Test Championships

Xtra Time Web Desk: In a bid to do well in the inaugural World Test Championships, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chalked out a plan so as to give an opportunity for the test specialists to prepare themselves well for the competition. The test specialists including Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari, Mayank Agarwal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma will be honing their skills playing for various counties. The much anticipated World Test Championships will be staged between July and August. Virat Kohli and his team are due to travel to the Caribbean to play a test series against West Indies immediately after the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Pujara already has a three-year contract with Yorkshire and is set to play there again. Indian test vice captain Ajinkya Rahane too will be seen in action plying his trade with Hampshire. The Mumbai batsman is likely to sign a deal with Rajasthan Royals ambassador Shane Warne’s former county.
It is learnt that during the test series in England last year, BCCI top officials has had discussions with the CEOs of all major counties so that its top Test players can play some red ball cricket. Some of the counties that BCCI are in talks with include Leicestershire, Essex, Nottinghamshire.
