BCCI Approaches Rahul Dravid For The Role Of Indian Coach

Internet Desk: BCCI has approached Rahul Dravid to become the new coach of the Indian team. BCCI advisory committee comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have reportedly enquired about his availability. Rahul has said he will think about it. The advisory committee will meet on Tuesday to finalise the name of the next Indian coach.

Ravi Shastri’s contract with the BCCI as the team director has ended with India’s semifinal loss against West Indies. Dravid will be mentoring the Delhi daredevils team in the upcoming IPL season 9. Dravid led the Indian U-19 team to the World Cup Final Where they lost to West Indies. Dravid also did a superb work with the Rajasthan Royals as a player cum mentor.

Shastri was appointed after Duncan Fletcher’s ouster following India’s 1-3 test series loss against England. BCCI had earlier approached Michael Hussey but he declined. Under Shastri’s guidance India won two test series against Sri Lanka and South Africa. India also made two semifinal appearances in two major ICC events.

According to sources, BCCI will renew the contracts of assistant coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar.
