[caption id="attachment_42624" align="aligncenter" width="580"]DSC_2836 Image: AIFF[/caption] Aizawl, Sabyasachi Bagchi: Everyone thought Mohun Bagan would leave the stadium with their heads held high, everyone thought Mohun Bagan would be crowned champions of the Hero I-League for the second consecutive time. But the determined boys of Coach Khalid Jamil had some other ideas. They fought till the last second and handed the heavyweights a frustrating result in the end. And there started all the problems. Bagan's highest goalscorer Darryl Duffy missed an open sitter in the 3rd minute of the game and received strict criticism from the fans as well as the former footballers. Later, the Bagan forward apologized on his Twitter handle about his shocking miss in the opening minutes and also raised a question about the performance of his teammates in the next 87 minutes.

In an interaction with www.xtratime.in correspondent, he also said, "I'm devastated. It's not the time for pointing fingers. Nightmares for days now." He literally seemed disgusted about the contributions about his teammates like Sony, Katsumi and Jeje who could have scored goals in the all important game. The moment the Bagan players returned back to the hotel, they didn't speak to each other even for a moment and carried their dejected bodies to their respective rooms. Though the Bagan gaffer claimed that there is still an outside chance to win the title, one superstar of the Bagan squad who asked not to disclose his name, told XtraTime, "I-League is over for us. I don't see any chance for us to win it from here on." Strangely, these internal frustrations were the things common in the Red and Gold brigade a few days back. A defeat against Aizawl has somewhere brought the same atmosphere in Mohun Bagan camp as well.
