B.C. Roy Trophy 2016-17: Goa beat Assam in Junior National Football Championship

Image Source: twitter[/caption] Internet Desk: Goa scored a resounding 3-0 victory over Assam in the first match of the Junior National Football Championship for B.C. Roy Trophy 2016-17 at Bhillai, Chhattisgarh. In the 15th minute of play, Boris De Mello was brought down in the penalty area by the rival defender resulting in a penalty being awarded in favour of Goa. Joston Cardoz scored off the resultant spot kick to put Goa ahead. In the 28th minute of play, Boris De Mello after being put through by Standly Fernandes dribbled past the Assam defender and slotted home to make it 2-0 in favour of Goa. Goa led by a brace at the breather. Savlon Cardozo made the issue save for Goa by tapping home of a lose ball which the keeper could not collect properly of a Joston Cardoz free kick. Goa will next face Tamil Nadu on 29.04.2017 at 8 am. Earlier, in another match of the same group West Bengal beat Tamil Nadu 3-1.
