Internet Desk: The ongoing tussle regarding the pay dispute with the Australian players with Cricket Australia board was finally resolved when both the parties agreed to a new “in-principle” deal; confirming the upcoming series against Bangladesh, India and England will take place.

“Today’s agreement is the result of sensible compromises by both parties,” said Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland, adding that the “core issues” had been worked out.

He added that it would “restore much certainty to the game of cricket”.

“It will allow all players – state and international players – to be contracted immediately and it will also allow the all-important tour of Bangladesh to proceed as planned.”

The dispute which has been ongoing for months badly affected the relationship of the players with the board as 230 cricketers were left unemployed when their contract ended in June.

Steve Smith will now be leading his side against Bangladesh from August 18, followed by an ODI series in India and then back home in November to play the Ashes.

The tour to South Africa for Australia A was called off when the players announced a boycott.

“Relationships with the game have been tested and I know that has been a bit of a turn-off for fans,” added Sutherland.
