Xtra Time Web Desk: Ajit Agarkar led selection committee will meet on August 21 and not August 20 as was decided earlier to pick the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The reason for a further delay is to consider the performances of a few players current playing in the T20I series against Ireland in Dublin.

The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson are currently busy playing in Ireland. Bumrah, who is leading the Indian side is a certainty for Asia Cup squad. The selectors will be looking at the performances of the Tilak, Samson and Prasidh before they take a final call.

The talking point of the selection committee meeting however remains the fitness of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Rahul looks to have recovered completely while there are still doubts over Shreyas Iyer’s fitness. Both Rahul and Iyer’s fitness will be assessed during the camp which starts at the National Cricket Academy from August 23.

If Shreyas does not make it to the squad, then there are high chances of Tilak Varma getting picked in the 15-member squad.

Asia Cup selection meeting to be attended by Rohit Sharma postponed for 24 hours in Delhi
