Anirudh Thapa and Esmael Goncalves shines as Chennaiyin FC beats Jamshedpur FC

XtraTime Web Desk – A blistering start from Chennaiyin FC helped the team get all 3 points against Jamshedpur FC.

Anirudh Thapa scored in the very first minute and became the first Indian player to score in this years ISL. This is the 4th time in the history of the tournament when an Indian player from Chennaiyin became the first Indian to score in a particular season. From there, Chennaiyin didn’t look back as they kept on attacking and got a penalty in the 25th minute of the match.

Esmael Goncalves made no mistake from the spot kick and gave Chennaiyin FC a 2-0 lead before 30 minutes. However, the fighting spirit in Jamshedpur kept them going as they pulled one back in the 37th minute as nerijus Valskis scored against his former team.

The second half was all about attacking football. While Chennaiyin was keeping the possession and was attacking, Jamshedpur mostly relied on counter-attacks. Chennai could have easily won the match by 3 or 4 goals but luck didn’t favour the south Indian club. Chennaiyin was not given a clear penalty at one point to Lallianzuala Chhangte missing sitters in the dying minute, Chennaiyin have seen it all. Anirudh Thapa was chosen the player of the match because of his all-round ability. Not only in the attacking, Thapa also helped the team in the defense. Thus, with such high class performance, Thapa was chosen the player of the match.
