Alip bridges the rivalry of Kolkata Football

Alip-with-Sanjay-Sen-and-BiKolkata , December 10 : It was possibly the biggest Kolkata Derby for Alip Chakraborty, the cancer patient, who doesn’t have the fame or limelight of Yuvraj Singh or Lance Armstrong to show the pride and inspiration to beat the deadly disease to everyone. But the guts and determination he has shown to combat the victory for life is nothing less than a folktale. The moment it was detected that the 44 years old East Bengal fan has been carrying the tongue & throat cancer the mecca of Indian football, who has been known for its fierce rivalry between two ancient  clubs – East Bengal & Mohun Bagan, extended the unprecedented hands of love and support to juice Alip the crescendo of life. The officials of both the clubs came forward to contribute the expenses of the operation.

But today, it was perhaps the first time, when the two bosses of the arch-rivals- Sanjoy Sen & Biswajit Bhattacharya went to support a football fan of the city to air the vitality of his

courage and mental strength. Taking both the coaches in surprise, Alip himself came to the

lobby to greet the gratitude.

Sanjoy Sen, the Mohun Bagan boss said to XtraTime,” This could just be an inspiration

for all of us. A man who just hates to lose. I was thinking of coming here for the last few days and instead of motivating the patient, I myself got motivated by him. I also will love to

thank the fans of both the rival clubs who have shown their sportsman spirit to support him.”

On the flip side of it, Biswajit Bhattacharya, the East Bengal boss was still in the aura of the

character the Red & Gold fan had shown. He was telling,”I came to know the incident from

XtraTime and couldn’t stop myself to come here. I wish he will keep motivating us for the years to come. I will tell my players about this inspirational figure.”

Alip also asked the two rival coaches to support him as he wants to start a campaign of

fighting against cancer after his recovery. Both the coaches applauded the thought and asserted the initiative as well.

The Kolkata derby might have seen a lot of rivalries, blood, violence. But Alip Chakraborty

has bridged the clubs and the people surrounded it on a different depiction- the passion and true love of Kolkata football.
