XtraTime Web Desk: The new football season will be from August 01, 2020 to May 31, 2021, announced the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday. The AIFF also confirmed the summer transfer window will open from August 01, 2020 to October 20, 2020. The second transfer window will be from January 01, 2021 to January 31, 2021.

The following dates have been finalized by FIFA. In a letter addressed to all its member associations, the AIFF said FIFA had approved the amendment of the season dates and the upcoming transfer windows.

The season dates and registration period (transfer window) as approved by FIFA for the 2020-21 season are as below:
Season dates: August 01, 2020 to May 31, 2021.
First registration period (Men & Women): August 1, 2020 to October 20, 2020.
Second registration period (Men & Women): January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2021.

Registration period for amateur players: August 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021.
The last game played in the Indian football calendar last season was the Indian Super League (ISL) final between ATK and Chennaiyin FC on March 14 behind closed doors. The I-League season was curtailed owing to the coronavirus pandemic and Mohun Bagan was declared the champion by virtue of the points they garnered which was not possible for other teams to achieve.

The Indian men's national football team will host Qatar in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying game on October 8, which will be followed by games against Bangladesh on November 12 (away) and Afghanistan at home on November 17.
