Kolkata: Mohun Bagan had their last training session of the season at home today as the Green and Maroon brigade will play their last match of the season on 31st May in the AFC Cup 2017 against Dhaka Abahani of Bangladesh. In the home match, Mohun Bagan had their last laugh with a 3-2 victory as the Bagan youngsters played their heart out to seal the game in their favour. Though, the Bagan side will be without their star players like Eduardo, Balwant, Anas, Pritam, Sehnaj and Prabir Das.

Mohun Bagan got another shock late in the afternoon, as Sony Norde skipped from the squad at the last moment for personal reasons. The Haitian superstar knows everything about Bangladesh football and has been an inspiring presence in the Green and Maroon brigade.

Today, after the training session the Bagan Coach Sanjoy Sen Said, “I’m a bit relaxed as the boys are already motivated as I didn’t have much to do in terms of the motivation. We will give our best shot to grab three points from the game.”

The Bagan coach also explained why they didn’t give much emphasis on the continental event in this season. He said, “All should understand that the contract with all my players will be finished on 31st May. If we would have given AFC Cup the priority, we would have been in further trouble as AFC gives strong punishments if you cannot field a team. I had problems in concentrating on AFC Cup.”

Meanwhile, Scottish forward is still in repentance for not winning a trophy this season. He said, “I can’t forget the goal I missed at Aizawl. That still pricks me all the time around. But Mohun Bagan will remail special for me because this has been the best team I have played so far in India.” He added, “If they want to retain me, I am ready to play. But right now the future of Indian leagues in a lot of doubts. We just have to wait and see.”
