A resilient comeback from ATK Mohun Bagan as they beat Kerala Blasters 3-2

XtraTime Web Desk – Roy Krishna’s brilliant brace helped ATK Mohun Bagan earn three points against Kerala Blasters.

Marcelinho, the new Mariner in town started for the green maroon brigade. However, the Brazilian didn’t have a great start in this new chapter. Gary Hooper’s screamer from 30 yards away from the goal put Blasters ahead in the 14th minute of the game. Arindam Bhattacharya tried to reach but he couldn’t place himself in the right position and Gary Hooper definetly put his name in the goal of the season list.

The boys in yellow with the confidence kept their pressure on ATK Mohun Bagan, who took some time to organise themselves. In the 21st minute, Andy Murray tried something similar but it didn’t trouble Arindam.

The new partnership of Roy Krishna and Marcelinho tried to create a bond upfront and put pressure on the opposition. Krishna came close in couple of occasions but it was Kerala who had the upper hand. Arindam rescued them in some occasions otherwise the deficit would have been higher in the first half.

In the second half, Kerala’s captain Costa doubled Kerala’s lead in the 51st minute. Post that, ATK Mohun Bagan changed their game to a whole new level.

Attack attack and attack was their mantra and it worked for them. Marcelinho scored in the 59th minute after a brilliant touch to beat the keeper. A debut goal for the Brazilian and Roy Krishna made it sweeter in the 65 minute when he scored from the Penalty to bring ATK Mohun Bagan level.

However, just like any other day, ATK Mohun Bagan kept it late as Roy Krishna scored in the 87th minute to bring glory for the Mariners. Krishna sealed all 3 points for ATK Mohun Bagan. Post that 5 players were shown yellow card for disciplinary action but ATK Mohun Bagan were victorious at the end of game.

ATK Mohun Bagan are in 2nd place and moved closer to Mumbai City FC. They now have 27 points from 14 games while Kerala Blasters are 9th in the table with 15 points from 15 games.
