A late own goal saw Jamshedpur beat Chennaiyin

XtraTime Web Desk – A close contest in Bambolim saw Jamshedpur FC beat Chennaiyin FC to regain momentum. With the win, they also kept their chances to qualify for the semifinals alive.

Chennaiyin started well. Chhangte in the 2nd minute only could’ve scored from a curling shot but TP Rehenesh made a perfect jump to his left to deny him scoring early on!

The match was very gripping and was evenly poised until Chennaiyin got another chance in the 30th minute. Raheem Ali’s powerful shot was blocked by Ricky. In the 36th minute, because of a blunder from the goalkeeper, Jamshedpur got a chance to score the first goal of the night but David failed to hit it on target and the match remained in level terms.

The hunt for the opening goal continued in the second half as well. Jamshedpur got a great chance to put themselves ahead once again but nothing happened in the end. It took a lot of time and finally in the 90th minute mark, the deadlock finally broke.

David Grande’s shot was deflected off Enes Sipovic and Jamshedpur went 1-0 ahead. Jamshedpur now has 21 points from 17 games and are 6th in the table while Chennaiyin are at 8th place with 17 points from 17 games.
