A late goal from Roy Krishna secured all three points for ATK Mohun Bagan against FC Goa

XtraTime Web Desk – After a defeat and a draw, it was very important for ATK Mohun Bagan to finally come into winning ways. They managed to beat FC Goa 1-0 as Roy Krishna once again delivered for the Green and Meroon brigade.

In the first half, FC Goa were under a lot of pressure even after keeping the possession. Most part of the match happened in their half and ATK Mohun Bagan created chances that could’ve given them the lead in the first half itself. ATK Mohun Bagan more or less dominant in the first half. David Williams’ shot hit the woodwork in the 40th minute. ATK Mohun Bagan would however was happy after the first half as they were creating a lot of chances and had good number of shots on target. It’s just the goals that were missing.

In the second half, it was FC Goa who run and controlled the game. They kept possessional football but was equally offensive in their approach. ATK Mohun Bagan kept their defence tight as FC Goa couldn’t find a opening. In the 80th minute, the Gaurs appealed for a penalty after Ortiz fell down inside the box. The referee denied it and in just 4 mins ATK Mohun Bagan was awarded a penalty after Roy Krishna was brought down by Aiban. The Fijian scored his fifth goal of the tournament from the spot-kick and sealed it for ATK Mohun Bagan.

Just after the goal, FC Goa created a lot of chances to bring them into level terms but all of their effort went in vain. Pritam Kotal, Sandesh Jhingan and Tiri was looking a bit shaky and ATK Mohun Bagan was under a lot of pressure. In the very last minute of the added time, Gama hit a shot outside the box but Arindam Bhattacharya saved it brilliantly and rescued ATK Mohun Bagan from a difficult situation. FC Goa still got another chance to score but Edu Bedia’s header sailed wide.

The referee calls the game as ATK Mohun Bagan beat FC Goa 1-0. ATK Mohun Bagan now has 13 points from 6 games and is at the 2nd spot in the league table while FC Goa is at 6th with 8 points from 6 games.
